Automobile lamp mold design and manufacturing solutions

The headlight is an indispensable set of accessories for the car. Whether it is a traditional or technologically fashionable model, the main parts of the headlight are inseparable from the headlight body, reflector, decorative frame and light distribution mirror. As a high-demand component for automotive exterior parts, the corresponding design and manufacturing process requirements of the molds for automotive lights are also very high.

 

First, the challenge comes from the headlight body.

 

Automotive lamp body is an internal functional part. Although the appearance requirements are not high, it has many assembly holes and buckle positions. This means that there may be some risks in the design and manufacture of lamp body molds:

1. There are many inclined tops, slides and inserts in the mold, which are easy to break and flash;

2. Complex water transport structure/difficult cooling uniformity;

3. Larger discharger/more battery power

Secondly, for the mirror, we need to combine the particularity of product specifications to design the mold.

Reflector, also known as reflector, is a part of the car headlight lighting system that reflects the function to avoid direct light, and is an appearance part. The surface is highly electroplated and has a large area texture for surface decoration. Since the reflector needs to work in a high-temperature environment, it needs to be beautiful while achieving the purpose of reflecting and condensing light. Therefore, automobile manufacturers often choose pre-molded integral molding compound (BMC) thermosetting plastic with heat resistance, flame retardancy and strong creep resistance to form the mirror.

 

In view of the manufacturing requirements of mirrors with strict light distribution and direct aluminum plating, Hanyi Industry recommends that you should pay attention to the mold design:

1. The mold parting surface can not avoid the air, easy to flash;

2. The location of the intersection and the weld line must be accurate in the early mold flow analysis;

 

3. The heating rods of the front and rear molds are evenly distributed to prevent deformation;

 

4. Ejection to increase the sheath to prevent high temperature burnout;

5. The surface texture profile requires high precision;

 

6. As far as possible, the mold core is not easy to split to avoid internal criticism.

 

Again, for the decorative frame of car lights, attention should be paid to the realization of its high surface requirements for mold design.The decorative frame of the headlight is a decorative part of the headlight lighting system of the car. It is located inside the lens and assembled with the lens. People can see the decorative frame from the outside of the headlight through the lens. Generally, the manufacturing materials of the decorative frame of the lamp are PC, PBT+GF, PBT+PET, PA+GF, and the surface plating is required.
